Beyond Blogging
Hi All,
I am one of those people who avoid those "get rich quick" emails and messages like the plague that they are. They are full of fake promises and prey on your dream by seemingly offering a quick way to achieve your dream. I can honestly say that I would never ever promote any such scheme / book to my friends or visitors to my website.
However, a long time personal friend of mine, who has helped me make this blog what it is from scratch has a product launch. He has already seen massive interest in this new book and has been offered investment in the book in anticipation of its massive potential.
Your own favourite post of 2009?
I would like to ask everyone what your own favourite post of 2009 was either on your own blog or as a guest post? But it must have been written by you.
I would like to get all of your suggestions onto one blog post, then to be sent out to all to have a read.
It doesn't have to be your most successful, but instead the one that you enjoyed writing, loved the subject, something that you think made a difference somewhere? Perhaps you had a great comment on the back of it? A post that made you go on to write another post or started something else?
Please send me a link to your post and I will showcase them all in a weeks time.
Thank you all
Chris
Twitter Has Introduced Lists - Lots of benefits!
Nick Kallen, Manager of Twitter's Lists project said that the new lists feature in Twitter can help you organise your followers list into categories - eg Celebrities, close friends, business contacts, personal contacts etc........
You can make all of the lists private, but they are set to "public as default" to allow other people to subscribe to that list.
Social Media Minefield - Brand Protection isn't Easy
Just how easy is it to open up large gaping holes in your personal armour to allow your personal and business brand to be exposed to potential damage?
Is your personal brand and your business brand linked? Of course it is, if your business brand relies upon the personal credibility of your personal brand.
So should which should we be more aware of protecting?
If I can suggest that there isn't really a choice at all as it is simply whichever one is more open to attack than the other. However, please refer to my second paragraph.
A Couple of hours to reflect on my "Troll Activity"
Well they say reflection is sometimes and great tool. personally......... I think the only tool in this whole debacle is Scott (@unmarketing)
So I sent him a short and brief tweet and basically told him what I thought. I could have just un-followed him - but I have an opinion and people like Scott, professional bloggers and advisors / life coaches always seem to want to be able to stay in touch with their prospective audience.....so I reached out in 140 chars or less.
What resulted can only be described as a third rate soccer striker diving in the box as a result of a soft tackle trying to get a penalty then laying there crying to the home fans for support hoping that none of the away fans would notice his soft injury.
It seems as though I "flamed" an untouchable?
Oh well, it seems that you can't criticise someone on social media any more (in public I might add...not going in as anonymous or hiding my identity) without kicking off a support war?
To give the guy credit, he didn't name me - not sure why not as it is easily searchable anyway, but you have to give credit as his "intentions" seemed admirable on the face of it........ but as with common predictability some other "Twit" did, then sent me a Tweet asking me to comment on his comments on the guys blog. Wow.....
Performancing Metrics for your Website or Blog
Website and Blog authors always want to know how many visitors come to their site.
Not just from a pride point of view or a validation requirement, but also to see what areas are working and what are not, where their visitors are coming from, what they are looking at, how long they stay, what sites have you been referred from, what keywords are being used to find your site on google etc.
There are many reasons initially, but also many more when you want to dig deeper.
of course there are programs like Googles Analytics service which report up to 24 hours behind and provide a plethora of information.
There are other programs like Performancing Metrics which can be found by clicking this link.
