Twitter Has Introduced Lists - Lots of benefits!
Nick Kallen, Manager of Twitter's Lists project said that the new lists feature in Twitter can help you organise your followers list into categories - eg Celebrities, close friends, business contacts, personal contacts etc........
You can make all of the lists private, but they are set to "public as default" to allow other people to subscribe to that list.
I have just had a thought - I guess the hard hitters might want to look at the lists that they produce themselves? Arguments for making the lists "private" rather than the "default public" I mean, if the "big guns" add a Tweeter to a group for instance and label them as "the person to see for X" and that list is public - then I am sure they will be targeted by those people out there who want to get on and love the schmooze?
You can always check the lists that you are on anyway - Thankfully Twitter has added the function to your profile - check them out and keep an eye on them!
This will allow Twitter users to concentrate on tweets about a particular subject or from particular groups at any one time by the Tweeters that are considered experts by their peers.
Earlier this month, Twitter tested Lists with a small group of users to test the feature but started rolling it out to an increasingly larger group this week, but for some it has been too slow!
Great functionality, and I am sure there will be thousands of tweets flying round as people try to get on certain lists, try to infiltrate lists of other reasons, find out who has lists that are private and would be great to get on? Or is that just me being cynical?
I personally think its a superb piece of functionality - that to be honest is long overdue and should really have been included in the original build?
What's coming next? An RT button?
Tweetdeck has yet to catch up by the way ;)
